Reading series ‘The world comes to the Bauhaus’
Part 2: Painters
Reading with Andreas Hillger and Frank Kreißler
24 February 2026, 6 p.m.,
Laurentiushalle, Gropiusallee 3
The reading series launched in January 2025 to mark the centenary of the Bauhaus in Dessau will continue in a modified form in 2026. In the second anniversary year, the perspective will be reversed: After ‘The Bauhaus Comes to Town’ with its chronological view of the city of Dessau in the mid-1920s, the focus this time will be on ‘The World Comes to the Bauhaus.’ The spotlight will be on prominent companions of the Bauhaus, who will be presented in exciting portraits. But events in Dessau will also play a role in the rest of the reading series. The last readings in each quarter offer a colourful and wide selection of important and interesting events in ‘Dessau 1926’ in chronological order.
The second reading in the series will take place on 24 February 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Laurentiushalle, Gropiusallee 3. The important Expressionist painters Marc Chagall and Oskar Kokoschka and their relationships with the Bauhaus will be presented. Andreas Hillger and Frank Kreißler will read. The Dessau-Roßlau Municipal Archives and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation invite you to this event.
Admission is free.
