Reading series ‘The world comes to the Bauhaus’ Part 3: Franz Werfel und Hans Prinzhorn
Reading with Andreas Hillger
21 April 2026, 6 p.m.,
Anhalt Picture Gallery, Georgium Palace,
Puschkinallee 100
The reading series launched in January 2025 to mark the centenary of the Bauhaus in Dessau will continue in 2026 with a reverse perspective: following on from ‘The Bauhaus Comes to Town’ with its chronological view of the city of Dessau in the mid-1920s, the focus will now shift to ‘The World Comes to the Bauhaus’. The focus will be on prominent companions of the Bauhaus, who will be presented in exciting portraits.
The third reading in the series will take place on 21 April 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Anhaltische Gemäldegalerie, Schloss Georgium, Puschkinallee 100. The writer and spokesman for lyrical expressionism Franz Werfel (1890–1945) and the psychiatrist and art historian Hans Prinzhorn (1886–1933), who was one of the pioneers in the scientific study of the artwork of mentally ill people, will be presented, along with their relationships to the Bauhaus. Andreas Hillger will be reading. The Dessau-Roßlau City Archives and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation invite you to attend this event. Admission is free.
